About Us

On January 1st, 2020, the Pennsylvania Apartment Association emerged from the consolidation of three NAA affiliates: PAA-West, PAA-Central, and PAA-East, uniting to form a single state association. However, the Association's trajectory swiftly shifted due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally poised for a year of member cohesion through educational initiatives and networking, the landscape altered drastically, ushering in a virtual paradigm.

Despite this challenge, PAA's advocacy team promptly sprang into action, ensuring the industry's essential status and collaborating with regulatory bodies to mitigate pandemic-induced evictions. Meanwhile, member engagement and education initiatives swiftly transitioned to virtual platforms, accommodating events, panel discussions, and learning opportunities.

Presently, PAA stands as one of the nation's top ten largest apartment associations, actively collaborating with legislators and regulators to enact mutually beneficial policies. Through in-person education and credentialing courses, the association strives to enhance the skills of multifamily professionals, fostering community and knowledge sharing across the Commonwealth.

Originating as the Multi-Family Housing Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania, PAA-East has evolved over the years, ultimately joining the National Apartment Association in 1996 as the Pennsylvania Apartment Association East. Similarly, PAA-West, established in 2002 as the Western Pennsylvania Apartment Association, and PAA-Central, dedicated to consumer and industry education, have played integral roles in advancing the multifamily housing sector.

Together, these chapters, now unified under the Pennsylvania Apartment Association, continue to provide a robust platform for education, advocacy, and industry advancement, ensuring a thriving multifamily landscape across the state.
