PAA Maintenance: Certified Pool Operator (CPO)

PAA Maintenance series focused on obtaining CPO certification

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 8:30 AM (EDT) to Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 4:00 PM (EDT)

TEAMS invitations for both days will be sent to e-mail address on registration form within 24 business hours of receipt.

Virtual CPO® Certification program that includes two days of live instruction and a proctored exam. This course includes:

    • Two days of live, virtual instruction from 9 A.M. – 4 P.M. Eastern Time on both days. Students must be on camera and attend both days for the full length of the class.
      • Please note, class check-in begins at 8:30 A.M. Eastern Time with instruction beginning at 9 A.M. Eastern Time. Students must be on time, and the classroom will lock at 9:30 A.M. Eastern Time.
      • Class includes two 15-minute breaks, and a 45-minute lunch break per day. 
    • The Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) Handbook is included and mailed ahead of time to the address provided. It is recommended that students review the book prior to the course and become familiar with the content.
    • An optional homework assignment is given for the evening of the first day. A PowerPoint with the answer key will be sent out afterwards to see how to go through the steps of the questions
      • The math homework is not a requirement of the course and is meant to assist those who need it
    • The exam is administered on the second day of the course in an open-book format. During the test, the student can refer to the PHTA Pool-Spa Operator Handbook, notes, and course handouts. To become a Certified Pool Operator®, the student must achieve a minimum score of 74% on the exam.

    IMPORTANT:

    • Refunds are not issued for missed classes, regardless of the reason for the absence/late entry. Substitutions are allowed, but coordination of the PHTA handbook is the responsibility of the two parties and will not be facilitated by PAA Education. An additional handbook will not be mailed for a substitution. 
    • Refunds are not issued for user technical difficulties or for not meeting the minimum technical requirements as set by the PHTA (see below).

    Students must bring the following to class:

    • The PHTA Handbook (physical and/or digital copy)
    • A calculator
    • Paper & pencil or pen
    • Photo ID (required for the exam)
    • Access to their computer’s camera and microphone. User must be on camera for the full two-day course.
    • The link to join the session will be emailed to you directly following your enrollment. Please contact PAA Education if you do not receive both meeting invites within 24 business hours of your registration.
